Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Microblading and Powder Brows?

Microblading is a permanent makeup technique that produces hair-like strokes throughout the eyebrow. The strokes are etched into the skin using a microblade and pigment.

Powder Brows are a permanent makeup technique created with a machine. Pigment is softly deposited into the skin using a single needle. This service leaves a soft wash of color enhancing brow shape and fullness. The results can appear bolder at first but powder brows produce incredibly natural healed results.

Is the procedure painful?

Pain is relative, however clients usually say that it’s a 1-2 on the pain scale. Lidocaine is used to numb the brows after the first pass of pigment.

Are there any contra-indications for cosmetic tattooing?

Yes, if you are under a physician’s care you will need to obtain a release stating that it is safe for you to receive permanent makeup. Your health care provider will know if you are prone to infections or have a compromised immune system.

Contraindications include but are not limited to: Pregnancy, keloid scarring, skin disease/rash, hemophilia, blood thinners, heart medications, or products containing aspirin.

Medications for any disease like diabetes, lupus or any autoimmune disease.

Also any vitamins or supplements that thin the blood would need to be stopped prior to your procedure but only with the consent of your health care provider. If you are currently taking antibiotics please bring a doctor’s note ensuring that the medication will not trigger adverse side effects.

Conflicts

  • Botox should be performed at least one month prior to microblading, fresh botox can distort the brow area.

  • You must be off Accutane for at least one year prior to the procedure.

  • No chemical peels 60 days prior to the procedure. Peels or products containing retinols/retin-a should be stopped at least 2 weeks prior to your brow appointment.

  • Previous permanent makeup can impede desired results. A consultation is required to determine whether or not you’d be a good candidate for services. In some cases laser tattoo removal may be required before booking.

  • Recent sun burn, severe acne flare ups on forehead, eczema and other skin conditions affecting the brow area are considered to be contraindications. Please contact me with any questions you may have pertaining to your ability to receive permanent makeup.
